Antivirus Reviews

[2007: This article has been superceded by this one.]
Just a quick note about a interesting current PC World article that reviews major antivirus software. Interestingly, the AV software I like to use, AVG, appears at the bottom of the list. Apparently, it detects less than the others on the list. However, it still has good detection rates and it has an email scanner, which Antivir, the highest rated free AV software, does not include in the free version. The big point out of this story is that BitDefender came out on top with flying colors, and it’s relatively inexpensive ($30).
As it happens, I’m an affiliate of BitDefender, which means that I receive a small commision when this product is purchased (at no extra cost to you) through the following link. Please check it out. It really is good software at a good price.

Update 2008:
I no longer recommend Bitdefender, as it runs slow in the new version. See my security and software posts for more recent antivirus recommendations.
