Forget Winzip. Try 7-Zip
August 26th, 2008 by Chuck Sharp
I really couldn’t put it better than the author of DailyBlogTips does: Forget Winzip. Try 7-Zip.
Long story short: Winzip costs money, and 7-zip is free. 7-zip is also full featured, relatively easy to use, and the only file compression software/manager I need or have used in Windows for several years.
If 7-zip seems to awkward or non-intuitive, then there’s always the free WinZip clone, ZipCentral. It’s not as full-featured, nor can it handle the variety of file formats, but it is pretty.
